I began my career as a trainer and assessor, delivering first aid training to schools and community groups while completing a Bachelor of Paramedic Science. On completion of my degree in 2017, I went on to serve as a paramedic for six years across two state ambulance services, Ambulance Victoria and Queensland Ambulance Service. During that time, I worked through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and the regional Victorian bushfires, experiences that deepened my resilience and commitment to helping others. I also became a certified yoga instructor, teaching emergency service personnel during a period of high stress.
After having children, I chose to pursue a Master of Learning and Teaching. My work as a paramedic showed me the power of education in building confidence and capability, and I discovered a strong passion for teaching young people through my involvement in community education. I have a particular interest in health and science subjects, drawing on both my academic background and professional experience. I also have a love for musical theatre, travel and the outdoors. When I am not working, I am with my wonderful husband and adventurous two and four year old children.
My teaching philosophy centres on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel confident to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. I believe learning is most effective when it is connected to real-world experiences and when students take an active role in their own progress. I aim to develop not only subject knowledge, but also critical thinking, curiosity, and independence.
